Shelter has four removable nesting blocks. Each block is a solid piece of mahogany with ten drilled out holes where a female bee will lay her eggs.
Material:
Salvaged wood frame with four salvaged mahogany insert blocks from Taylor Guitars.
Copper roof with a solar powered lantern and rechargeable battery.
Dimensions - 26" x 7" x 7"
A serial number is stamped on each shelter to be used as the bee map ID.
Directions:
Install your Tower in the garden where plants often bloom. Be sure the nesting tunnels face east, so the morning sun will warm the nest. Install on a paver on the ground or hang on a fence so the bees can easily fly from the pollen source to the nesting tunnel.
Maintenance:
After each use by a bee, the nesting tunnel must be cleaned. Simply remove the nest block from the frame and clean out the tunnel with a small file or bottle brush. If the debris is hard mud or resin you can also use a powerdrill with a long bit to scrap the tunnel walls clean. Shake out the debris so the tunnel is clean for another female bee.
